Annie Okerlin, owner of Yogani Studios in Tampa each year has led a group from the Tampa Bay area on a 14 day Yoga and Seva trek to Nepal. Part of their journey is to cross from Kathmandu to Chitwan stopping and visiting at some of our remote villages that we have programs. She supports Global Action Coalition with donations and also brings school supplies with them on their journey. We deeply appreciate her support and the support from her participants. Here is a few words she shared with me about her experiences.
“I have visited several schools in the Chitwan region of Western Nepal over the last few years. It is the highlight of my trip. It’s so wonderful to see the children, delighted to share their school, excited to receive the books, pencils and erasers for their studies. In 2012 all the family members came and joined in the courtyard as the children showed us their morning routine of exercises and the little ones fumbled around trying to follow along. It was a wonderful exchange of laughter, clapping and joy without words. Afterwards we gave out the supplies and received lovely necklaces of local flowers hand tied by the children. I wish I had recorded their sweet voices saying ‘Namaste’.”
